SOVIET OCCUPATION (1940-1991) In the period from July 1940 to June 1941, approximately 1,000 people were arrested and disappeared. During the mass deportations, which began on June 14, 1941, over 10,000 people were deported or sent to prison camps in Siberia without any legal procedures being utilized. People fled to the forests to escape the terror. I wrote in June's newsletter the story of Maie Kirt inheriting the 120 acre farm of her grandparents which the Russians had confiscated. We were privileged to hold the first seminar ever in the Cinema Hall the Russians built while Estonia was under their regime. The following report is Maie's own personal testimony which I recently received. I want to share it with you. My name is Maie Kirt. I am an Estonian. I was born into a simple Estonian family. I had never heard about Jesus. Our country was under the Soviet Communist rule at that time. Since my childhood I longed for something that I could not give a name. My childhood was quite normal. I went to school, became a young communist believing in the things our government taught. When I was 15 years old my mother died. It was a great loss for me, as if the whole world collapsed. Somehow I started to think about God. I knew he had called me. I found a magazine where, for some reason, was written our "Lord's Prayer". I started to pray it every night. One day my friend invited me to a prayer house. It was a Free Evangelical church. Many times I had passed by that house feeling attracted to it. Now I was there. The message of the Lord touched my heart and I gave my life to Jesus. After half a year I went to a Bible school. It was called Global Outreach Bible Institute. That gave me a very good foundation for my Christian life and ministry. My life changed completely. God took my fears, tears, disappointments and all of my hurts. He healed it all and filled me with the Holy Spirit. During 1991, while I was in Bible school, Estonia received it's independence. We had been under Russian rule for 50 years. Now at last we were free! It was a great celebration and revival. People were gathering and singing about Estonia and freedom. My grandfather had owned a big farm in South Estonia. I had never heard much about it. When the Russians invaded our land in 1941 it was taken away by force. My grandfather was sent to prison for many years and my grandmother was sent to Siberia with four little children. Some of them never came back. Five years ago the Estonian government started to give back houses and land to many thousands of Estonians who had lost their possessions in the same way. I have received back my grandfather's land. It is a big farm with 120 acres, a big two story house and a Cinema hall for about 150 people. We are building it to be a Christian Mission Centre. It has much space and opportunities. Our vision is to hold seminars, conferences and Bible schools, to equip the saints for the work of the ministry. (Eph. 4:12) We are also farming to support ourselves. We are working together with a local church in Estonia and we have a church in Norway that is helping us. Our vision is to take Estonia and the world for Jesus. The harvest is ripe. Who will go? God is preparing an army and he will send it out with His anointing and vision to take the land. The Lord has given us many good promises. There is still much to accomplish but we will trust the Lord. REDMAN FAMILY NEWS UPDATEDon, Owen and the two girls still live in Ormond Beach, Florida.
