A STEP OF FAITH

It is a never-to-be-forgotten experience when we have a promise of God, step out in faith, and see God doing things on our behalf.

Joshua 3:13-16 states, "As soon as the feet of the Priests shall rest in the water; the waters shall be cut off, and stand upon an heap." As the feet of the Priests were dipped in the water, the waters rose upon a heap and were cut off, and the people passed over.

The Priests who carried the Ark of the Covenant into the Jordan River saw God work.  It would not have been enough for them to have stood close to the edge of the water, believed on the great ability of God to stop the flow several miles upstream, and pile up the water as though there was a great dam.  We all know God is able to do such a thing, but "Will God do this for me?"  What would our answer be?

We know God is the same yesterday, today and forever.  Every Christian is as precious in God's sight as the people of Israel were precious in His sight.

The Israelites didn't make the mistake at the edge of the Jordan of merely reckoning God's ability to do what He promised.  They didn't stand to see what God would do.  When they received their marching orders to go into the river, the Priests led with the Ark, and the waters parted.

The Priests got their feet wet.  That is the only way faith operates.  We have tried this method over and over again in Christian Missionary Association. Every overseas training seminar has been set up by faith.  Each one costing several thousand dollars.  From the natural standpoint it looked impossible.  As we've stepped out in faith, God has always parted the water and supplied the need.  In one case, He waited until the night before we were to leave for Haiti.  This is what happened when the Priests stepped into the water carrying the Ark.  Humanly, the passage of the Jordan at the time and place seemed impossible, yet in the end God gave the victory.

It was not necessary for the Israelites to see the great volume of water piling higher and higher. All they needed to do was to believe God and keep their eyes on the Ark, which represented the presence of God.

DUMAGUETE CITY PASTOR'S & LADIES' SEMINAR
Negros, Philippines April 21-24

Pastors Lloyd and Regina Blount and I will leave April 15th for the PhiliPPines.  We are depending on your prayers that we will be a blessing to the pastors attending the seminar.  Many pastors come discouraged, ready to quit the ministry.  The following are a few testimonies given by pastors in their own words after our last seminar held in Davao City in 1996.

Pastor & Mrs. Gedeon Martinez:
"We are newly transferred in a church last January 28, a church that it is almost collapse, due to the work of the devil, the members are scattered away.  We feel discourage and depressed.  But we thank God for the seminar, its a big help for us.  God open our mind, and strengthened our faith, and give us hope in the ministry.  His presence and glory manifest in us freshly.  His anointing makes us strong.  And we thanked God for Pastor Lloyd, Sis. Regina, Sis. Helen and all the sponsors, for bring an instrument that the Glory of God manifest to us."

Pastor Bobby Semangho:
"Praise in the name of Jesus that this seminar change my personal way as pastor.  I have learned many things that I have not learned before.  The teaching is new to us and it is very important particularly in my ministry, in my life changed lots of things.  It made me strong in the Lord.  All I can say, we need more teachings."

Rev. Robert Oraigoio:
"I am blessed in this seminar.  My first time to have heard and learned the Lord's Prayer so marvelously explained, and so enriched of God's marvelous care.  I love your preaching and teaching of the reality of God and His word.  It gives me more hunger and thirst after God's manifested glory.  I longed other pastor of our area would experience this revelation."
