Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth to those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 3:13,14) We are standing at the threshold of the new year, of our untried tomorrows. As we go forth to conquer the challenges that lie ahead, we must remind ourselves of what we have in Christ Jesus: I have strength for all things in Christ who empowers me--I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses inner strength into me. That is, I am self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency. (Phil. 4:13 Amplified Bible) We must renew our relationship with Christ, as Paul said, "forgetting those things that were behind and reaching forth to the things that were before." To have a furore we must forget the past. It is part of our nature to want to live in the yesterdays of life, in "the days that come not back again." We would rather relive the strife, the bad habits, the heartaches, and stumbling steps, than to face the uncertain. "The Road Not Taken" poem, written by David Frost, talks about two roads diverged in a wood. I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference. We are standing at the parting of the ways. There is a choice to make, some road to take, and we must consider which, how is it we intend to live? Will it be repetitious of the past? We can't see what lies ahead, but we know the one who holds the future. As we keep our eyes upon Him, we can face the dawn of the new year with confidence because we can do all things through Christ which strengthens us. REPORT FROM CHRIS REDMANMy visit there marked the first opportunity I've had to preach after being appointed "Field Representative" for CMA. It was also the first preaching engagement that I've had since being ordained in October. We are looking forward to other opportunities of preaching in the new year. Last week, our youngest son Caleb spent six days in the hospital with pneumonia. He is well now but please take a moment and lift him up in your prayers for continued health. We have completed our first successful semester at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with above average grades. I believe that nearly all of my grades are in the "A" category and I praise God for that. May the Lord bless you and I trust you have had a wonderful holiday season.
