Luke 10:33-34 tells us that a certain Samaritan on his journey came by a man stripped of his raiment, wounded, and left half dead alone the roadside by thieves. When the Samaritan saw him, he had COMPASSION on him. He went To him, bound up his wounds pouring oil and wine, set him on his beast, brought him to an inn and took care of him. When Jesus saw the hungry multitude, he had COMPASSION on them. when the leper, a social outcast and cursed of God, came and said, "If thou will, thou canst make me clean," it was COMPASSION that moved Jesus. "I will, be thou clean," he responded. It is impossible for us to have agape love without COMPASSION. If the love of God reigns in our hearts, COMPASSION will become a driving force in our lives. It will cause you to reach a helping hand to the needy and hungry. COMPASSION will never seek the easy road. It will not look for the route with the least resistance. Instead, it will enter into the situation and identify with the hurt and wounded. It will cause us to go the second mile, giving of ourselves and our substance. We can proclaim with Jesus, "the Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set a liberty them that are bruised. To preach the acceptable year of the Lord" (Luke 4:18-19) It takes COMPASSION to do this. Jesus healed the oppressed, downtrodden, bruised, crushed, those broken down by calamity. He gave consolation and joy to those who mourned. He gave comfort and strength in time of grief. He gave "beauty for ashes." As we have likewise COMPASSION, He will use each one of us to rebuild other ruined lives. This is the cry of my heart. To touch peoples lives is to touch Him. LIMA, PERU LADIES SEMINAR, NOVEMBER 9, 1998In July 1988, we were privileged to teach and train 150 Peruvian pastors in Ayacucho, Peru. Ayacucho was then under a state of emergency because of the "Shining Path Terrorists". The people there lived under constant fear. During the Guerrilla warfare, many Christians were killed and suffered great persecution. My late husband, Henry Redman, held a Training Center in June of 1982 in Santa Rosa, Peru. It was the first Training Center ever held among the Quechua Indians. Sixteen of these workers were among those killed by the terrorists. Many of the Peruvian women are abused and then put out on the street with no place to go. They have very low self-esteem. This is why it is such a privilege to teach these ladies ho special they are to God. Please pray about sowing seeds into this seminar that will reap great benefits. Thank you for enabling us to go. Please designate your check, "Peru Seminar". HENRY REDMAN'S BOOKS
