BLESSING...BREAKING...GIVING

As I stood on the shores of Galilee three years ago, it made Matthew 14:19 come alive.   This is where Jesus preformed the miracle of feeding the 5,000 with five loaves and two fishes.

"And He commanded the multilude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and two fishes, and looking up to heaven, He blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude." (Matt 14:19)

It took me back in time, remembering my late husband, Henry Redman's sermon on Blessing...Breaking...Giving.

First of all, we are absolutely dependent upon His blessing.  That is one of the significant lessons I've learned in missionary work around the world.  No matter how worthy the cause, our eff6rts are futile without His blessings.  Meeting a need is never dependent upon the supply at hand but on the blessings of the Lord.  Five loaves and two fishes proved more than sufficient to feed 5,000 people simply because He blessed.  The miracle only came about with the blessing.  The blessing of God was the determining factor.

The second principle is breaking.  Without breaking, men have the natural tendency to stand and gloat over their accomplishments, even things in religious circles, in church life, in mission work.

Breaking is often necessary before God's vessel is prepared to fully apply himself to the work of the lord.  Timothy 2:21 speaks of being purged to serve.

"If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work."

Last but certainly not least is the principle of giving, which is the life style of the child of God Throughout his entire ministry, Jesus was a giver.  Jesus imparted this same attitude about giving to His disciples.

What matchless principles the Lord of glory has given us.  Blessing....breaking....giving, always produces after God - the miraculous.

A NOTE FROM CHRIS

Sunday, March 7th is the "Sunday of New Beginnings" for River Edge Community Church, at Violet, LA.  We have planned some very special events for that Sunday. These include the worship and music ministry of my mom, Gwen Redmait.  We'll also have a time of music with a Southern Gospel Quartet Leading up to this event.  We will be blanketing the community surrounding the church to invite people to come and join us for this event.  Another church in the community has offered to run a newspaper article in the local paper to advertise the service.  I am very excited, but I need your prayers for strength, and power from God during this time.

I am also scheduled to preach at Riverbend Community Church, in Ormond Beach, FL on Wednesday, March 3rd.  This church is now running 2 to 3 thousand in worship, and was our home church for 6 years in Florida while we lived there.  God is doing some very special things, so let's give thanks to Him.

PRETORIA, S. AFRICA, MARCH 10-22, 1999

By the time many of you receive this newsletter, we will be ministering in Pretoria.  Please remember us in prayer.  Thank you to our partners who have made this possible.  A full report and pictures will be in our next newsletter.

HAITI LADIES SEMINAR, APRIL 31-MAY 7

I will be with Bill & Marlene Burch of Petionville, Haiti.  I set this up by faith.  The cost of the seminar and travel expense will be about $1,100.  I'm asking our partners to respond to this need.  Together we can plant seeds into the Haitian ladies.  Haiti is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere.  The adult literacy rate is about 55%.  The principal religion is Roman Catholicism, many Haitians, however, practice voodoo.

THANKS

Thank you for responding to our need of purchasing a scanner for the office.  I'm happy to report that the scanner has been purchased and will be in use for our next newsletter.

I also want to express my thanks to all of you who sent beautiful birthday cards and flowers on my birthday which was January 25th.

Your financial contributions toward travel expenses for the seminars are greatly appreciated. Please designate on your check the seminar you wish to help with.

We'd love to hear from you:
