Mary Magdalene and Mary came at daybreak on a Sunday to anoint Jesus' body with spices (Mark 16:1, Luke 24:1). They found the tomb empty with "Angel of the Lord" in charge; and when they saw what evidently happened they were naturally afraid as were "keepers" or members of Roman guard set to watch the tomb. The angel then reassured the women telling them not to fear because their master was risen. According to his own words, "just as at our Lord's birth" (Luke 1:30, 2:10) so here the first word spoken by Angel and then by Christ himself was "Fear Not" (Matt 28:10) His resurrection is shown not only to remove fear but also to introduce His people to courage, hope, peace and joy that come from fellowship with Him as risen "Lord." It is interesting to note how special women are to God that He chose a women as His channel for redemption, forgiveness and eternal salvation. A women was used to bring joy, peace, love, comfort and fulfillment to the human race. (Luke 1:26-38) The last and first person at the tomb was a woman and the first person to proclaim the message of the resurrection. This is why it is so rewarding to tell women around the world who are treated less than human how special they are to God.
LAPU-LAPU PHILIPPINE PASTOR'S & LADIES SEMINARPlease remember in prayer: Pastor Lloyd & Regina Blount, Chris & Patricia Redman and myself as we travel to the Philippines on April 2Oth that we will be a blessing to the pastors. A full report will be included in the next newsletter coming out in mid-May which will be May/June combined. We will return home back through Hong Kong China to be with Bro. Dennis Balcombe. I just received the latest newsletter from Dennis telling about the work since coming under Mainland China's rule. HONG KONG CHINA DENNIS BALCOMBEAs we enter this 21st century, we thank God for his continued protection of Hong Kong. Many major ministries, church groups and human rights groups were very pessimistic about the prospect of continued ministry to China after the handover in July 1997. Many relocated to other nations. However we have declared for decades that the church is living in a time of opening doors, not closing doors. Look at what happened in the former USSR and Eastern Europe. We determined to remain here, purchased a theater for our church and an office for the RCMI ministry. We have not for one day stopped our ministry into China. It has been proven to be the right decision. Following the "Asian Economic Crisis", the economies of HK and other Asian nations are now making remarkable recoveries. More important we maintain all the freedoms we had under British administration, and if anything, ministry into China is easier than at any time. Of course in China and many other nations, opposition to the Gospel and persecution is widespread. But we are used to this, and it will not deter us in fulfilling "the Great Commission." Kathy was ordained as a pastor a few years ago, and with a strong pastoral team does much of the local ministry, as I travel overseas often. You probably have heard of the phenomenon of teeth being supernaturally and instantly filled with gold and other precious substances These manifestations of God's power are so evident that nobody can deny that God has done a miracle. On a recent visit to China, many of our people witnessed shortened limbs grow to normal length through prayer. Of course any mainland Chinese believer can testify of miracles. All of this is simply God fulfilling His promise to "pour out His Spirit on all flesh" in these last days. One of our greatest concerns is the impact false doctrine, extreme teachings and the cults have had on people. In Hong Kong Mormons are everywhere, and daily scores of innocent your people are sucked into this cult. One of my greatest concerns has been that false teaching will breed confusion and doubt, cause division and thus people will turn away from Christ and the church.
