PHILIPPINE SEMINAR TESTIMONIES CONTINUED BY C.M.A. TEAM

PASTOR LLOYD BLOUNT

This is the greatest Philippine conference we have had so far.  Without doubt, 100% of the pastors and delegates left encouraged, totally changed and refreshed.  I went with Pastor Robert and the youth of the church to the city garbage dump.  Once a week they go there to feed the "dump site children".  It is where children are dropped off becanse they cannot be fed by their family.  Children ages 3 - 13 are "dumped" here to find food and scraps to eat.  We fed them, sang, shared the gospel and prayed for them.  I preached at a prison where the facility was awful and the heat unbelievable.  Many accepted the Lord that day and the Lord personally ministered to some.  It was a joy ministering in the Philippines.  To God be the glory!

PASTOR REGINA BLOUNT

This was a great conference.  The people of the Philippines are such a delight to minister to. They love God with a great passion.  I am so grateful to the faithfulness of God.  "Mission accomplished" would be the thing to say.  This scripture seems to fit the opportunity to minister to ministers, "so he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart and guided them by the skillfulness of hand" Psalms 78:72.  A special thanks to CMA supporters and our home church for making the trip possible.  You too are part of the seed that was sown there!

CHRIS REDMAN

Two conversations with Philippine pastors stand out in my mind.  One pastor and family became fast friends with Patricia and I.  We noticed they had a genuine need for a fan in their parsonage.  The room shared by their 3 children had no window.  We delivered a fan to them and they began to cry.  The children had asked for a fan but they did not have enough money. We told them to thank God and give Him the glory.  Another pastor's congregation was made up of rice farmers.  He told me that when it comes to rice, his needs are met in ample supply. But when it comes to money, the congregation can only give a small amount.  When it is not harvest time, there is no money at all.  There is no fresh water source anywhere in the vicinity of their church or home.  All water is pumped up from the ground and during the dry season they go without water for up to a month because the well runs dry.  I found the pastors to be very sincere in their faith and hungry for Spiritual truth.  Patricia and I were deeply touched and plan to return to the Philippines for additional ministry as early as next summer.

PATRICIA REDMAN

This was my first missionary trip therefore; every experience was thrilling and emotional.  We made some eternal friends with the pastors and their wives.  The children deeply touched my heart.  They are so hungry -- for food AND for God.  I went to an unwed mother's home. Many girls are raped, abused with incest or involved in extramarital affairs.  The mother's home established by a Christian lady is also an international adoption agency.  The mothers are well cared for and the gospel is shared with them.  I shared my testimony and the gospel with them and God did a work in their hearts.  They all wanted a Bible so I purchased 14 Bibles written in their language.  They were less than $1.00 each.  They considered it a great blessing to have their own Bible.  I have come to love these people and their country.  I can't wait to go back again next year and hopefully stay longer.  I miss them very much.

LIMA PERU LADIES MEETINGS
NOV. 2-13, 2000

It is a real privilege to work again with Pastor Robert Barriger and his associates in teaching the women of Lima and the surrounding areas.  Pastor Robert has a congregation of over 2,000 members in Lima, 16 outreach churches, two Ruth Houses for abused women and their children and an orphanage for homeless children.

According to recent media reports, crime in Peru is a result of unemployment and poverty, and affects women primarily.  An estimated 25,000 women become victims of rape yearly in Peru.  The largest percentage of them are young girls under the age of 14.  In April 1997, the Peruvian Congress repealed a law that allowed rapists to marry their victims, thus escaping prosecution.

It is sad to see that the court system in Peru still does not take a woman's testimony seriously. According to Congresswoman Lourdes Flores Nano, in 1996 out of 13,660 reported cases of rape, only 2,311 perpetrators (one in eight) were brought to justice.

It is a real privilege to let them know how special they are to God.
