There is a statement made in Luke 6, verse 31. The Bible says, "And as you would that men should do to you, do you also to them likewise." Perhaps this is the great ruling principal of all Christianity. It sometimes helps just to put ourselves in the other man's place and ask ourselves an important question: if we were in his place, what kind of help would we want most of all? The old saying "Don't judge a person till you have walked a mile in their shoes " is so true. This is the reason I believe that carrying the gospel to the unreached should be the number one business of the church of the Lord Jesus Christ It is a joy reaching out to women in Third World countries. These women are suppressed down with very low self esteem and feel like they are nobodies. I can relate to these women because I have walked in their shoes and know where they are coming from. It wasn't until 1987 that I began to learn my identity in Christ I began to realize how special I was to God and that he had a plan for my life. Not realizing at that time his plan was to pick up the mantle of Henry Redman in carrying the mission work on. I have found myself doing things I never thought I'd be capable of doing. I have stood on Phil 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me." That scripture has turned my life completely around. It is a joy to share with women around the worid that God created them special with a plan for each one of their lives. Many women are still sold as slaves and are treated less than human. This is not what God created them for. Two million women are raped globally each year. In India, five women are burned in dowry related disputes every day. In Peru, an estimated 25,000 women become victims of rape. The largest percentage of them are young giris under the age of 14. In April 1997, the Peruvian congress repealed a law that allowed rapists to marry their victims, thus escaping prosecution. Can you imagine! I will be returning to Peru this coming November working with Pastor Robert Barriger teaching the Peruvian women. Pastor Robert now has three Ruth homes for battered women and children that have no place to go. I had the privilege of speaking at one of the Ruth homes in November of 1998.
Together we can make a difference. It is you our partners that enable us to go and share the love of God with these women. We can help them find hope and self esteem by discovering their value in God and his love for them.
