NEW YEAR GREETINGS

We do not know what changes will come, what new needs shall arise, but there is one consolation, “The Lord thy God careth for it from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year,” and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed. It shall be a good and blessed New Year of 2007!

A STEP OF FAITH

I have found that God absolutely comes to the aid of those who cry out for His help when there is no one else to aid us. As a single person or a widow, a widower or someone who has experienced great loss in life, God has something for you—a purpose, a destiny. That’s the heart of 2 Timothy 1:9.
Don’t allow yourself to be denied a happy or fulfilling life because you may have suffered a loss over the past year. Have faith in God and be willing to step out when the opportunity comes in your life.
I recently received the following letter of encouragement. I know many of you will be able to relate to it. It came from Ruth Rodemich of Columbia, IL.

LEARNING FROM "LESSON'S FOR LIVING" “Helen Redman’s book, “Lessons for Living” was dropped into my life by God through a fellow Bible Study friend. Two years before, I left my active professional life as a nurse to take care of my parents. My mother had recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and their life was becoming increasingly chaotic. My husband and I moved into an efficiency apartment attached to their home so they could remain in familiar surroundings.
I have been a believer in Jesus since 1977, but He seemed to have put me in a place I was unable to handle. I felt robbed of my identity as a nurse as well as the loss of freedom and home. Dr. Kuble-Ross in her work “Death and Dying” talks about the 5 stages of grief. When Helen’s writings became part of my daily devotional, I was firmly entrenched in the second stage of grief, which is anger. Helen led me down the pathway of faith, out of the darkness of self-pity and into the light of God’s purpose for my life. The favorite portion of the book comes out of Chapter 6. Helen writes, “We need to understand that God seldom calls us to tasks that we can easily do within our own selves. He always seems to call us to step into uncharted territory that requires absolute dependency upon Him...Don’t allow yourself to be denied a happy or fulfilling life because of your loss.”
I could go on and on, but “Lessons for Living” led me out of the desert of self-pity and into the green pastures of life and service. Needless to say, I still come to the fountain to drink because “Lessons for Living” remains close by for refreshment. Thank you!
