HAPPY 2009 “On the first day of the month were the tops of the mountains seen.” Gen. 8:5 This verse has a unique application to the first day of a new year. In this verse, the “tenth month” corresponds with our January; so the “first day” is our January 1st. January is the doorway to a brand new year. In fact, the word “January” comes from the Roman mythological figure “Janus”, who was the guardian of portals. Webster’s Dictionary defines the word “portal” as an entrance; arch over a gate. “For the land you are about to enter and possess...is a land of hills and valleys with plenty of rain; a land that the Lord your God personally cares for! His eyes are always upon it, day after day, throughout the year!” Deut. 11:11-12 “Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours. You must keep His commandments. Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are sitting at home, when you are walking, at bedtime, and before breakfast. Write them upon the doors of your houses and upon your gates, so that you and your children will enjoy the good life awaiting you in the land the Lord has promised you.” This is a conditional promise in Deut. 11 (The Living Bible) As you keep this promise, you can enter on the threshold of the unknown year that lies before you; with confidence that you can go forth to possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves. No one will be able to stand against you. There is a great challenge in standing on the verge of the unknown. There are great doors of opportunity opening on the mission field. The adversary is also at work trying to close those doors in the 3rd world countries for the Westerner. A new door has opened for June in Honduras working with abused women. More information on this seminar coming soon. PHILIPPINES JAVILLO UPDATEIn my October newsletter, I put an article about the Javillo family asking you to help them financially, which you opened your heart and did. November 14th, I received an e-mail from their oldest daughter, Junellen, stating her Mother (Ellen) was admitted to the hospital and was in ICU with a heart attack. In 12 hours stay at Joseph Reagan hospital the bill was $600.00 so the children transferred her to a government hospital. The Dr. said she had an enlarged heart and got her stabilized, put her on medication and bed rest. I’m happy to report God answered our prayers. She is now home and improving each day. Because of the cost of medication and hospital bills, they need your help more than ever. Please pray about helping them above your regular support to CMA. It will be such a blessing to this needy family. |
